Global population growth and economic greed threatens our natural resources. Consumers increasingly demand ethically sourced products. Yet, sustainable and ethical supply chains remain a small share of global trade and traceability is a challenge. Cooperatives are value-based organizations and are not driven only by profit to the detriment of the environment, labor standards, and food safety. How can the co-op model support more sustainable and ethical food and non-food product supply? How can alliances including farmers, coops, investors, and companies create inclusive sustainable markets for safe, nutritious foods and other non-food products?
