Economic justice and empowerment are the roots of the cooperative movement. A growing number of organizations have been focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) to embed racial and social justice into all facets of their work. These efforts can impact strategy, hiring practices, procurement, internal policy, and programmatic goals.  Embarking on the DEI process demands focus, courage, and persistence as organizations face historical inequities, power structures and inherent biases that have shaped our current realities, workplaces, and communities where we focus. During this session we will hear from a range of organizations who will discuss their motivations, processes, and lessons in exploring how this work has been critical to their vision.
