Are you a proven leader with a passion for creating lasting impact? NCBA CLUSA is looking for an exceptional candidate for the role of Deputy Chief of Party (COP) for an upcoming, anticipated USAID-funded project in Madagascar. This transformative five-year initiative aims to reduce poverty and malnutrition while building resilience in households, communities, and systems to better withstand challenges such as market volatility, climate shifts, and conflict.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leads and assists in preparation of critical project documents including annual work plans, progress reports, Performance Management Plans, and budgets.
• Monitors project implementation against work plans and budget.
• Assists in the management of the project, particularly public relations, communications of project information and results to USAID, the Government of Madagascar, project partners, and stakeholders to allow for informed decision making and a country-led initiative.
• Under the leadership of the COP, supervises all technical activities and coordinates field operations.
• Coordinates with the technical team in the implementation of a comprehensive knowledge management and sharing system that will help staff refine interventions and maximize project results.
• Oversees all project activities in order to identify problems and scale up successes in accordance with good adaptive management practices.
• Coordinates evaluations and technical studies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidate: You have experience in agriculture, nutrition, resilience, community development, and economic growth, with a proven ability to oversee programs that effectively incorporate cross-cutting inclusion priorities including, but not limited to, climate resilience and gender and youth inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in agriculture, integrated rural development, environmental sciences/management, climate/adaptation, economics or other related fields. Master’s preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in agribusiness/market systems development
- Minimum 5 years’ experience implementing United State Government (USG) funded projects with knowledge of USAID financial rules and regulations.
- Excellent managerial and operational experience, preferably in managing donor projects involving coordination with multiple implementing partners in Madagascar
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in USAID programming and protocols.
- Demonstrated progressive experience working in partnership with the private sector, government, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop systems for project coordination and management.
- Problem analysis and resolution at a functional and strategic level.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Fluency in French and English required.
- Excellent past performance references.
