Job Opportunity: Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist – PENDING AWARD

Location: Ecuador

Project: USAID Climate Change through Mitigation of Sustainable Land Use

NCBA CLUSA is seeking a Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist for an upcoming USAID-funded project aimed at addressing climate change through sustainable land use. This initiative will promote natural climate solutions, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and support sustainable livelihoods in areas affected by deforestation and land degradation across Ecuador.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead GESI technical advising and strategy development.
  • Ensure GESI integration across project activities.
  • Design and conduct GESI assessments, training, and workshops.
  • Align project goals with USAID’s Gender Equality and Inclusive Development policies.
  • Incorporate GESI considerations into monitoring and evaluation.

Ideal Candidate: You are an experienced professional in gender equity and social inclusion, with a strong background in sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and USAID frameworks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in gender/women’s studies, social sciences, international relations, development studies, or closely related discipline and minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated professional experience as Gender or GESI Advisor or in a similar role integrating GESI greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction, forestry, ecosystem management, biodiversity, and sustainable land use.
  • In-depth experience working in gender and social inclusion in Ecuador required.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting gender and social inclusion analyses or research in climate change and environmental conservation in Ecuador.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USAID policies on gender equity and social inclusion.
  • Ability to produce well written reports demonstrating analytical ability and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
  • Proficiency using MS Windows and MS Office Suite and Web Conferencing Applications.
