Moderated by NCBA CLUSA president and CEO Mike Beall, the press conference featured cooperative experts representing industry sectors addressing the emerging role co-ops are playing in Cuba’s economic reform and how engagement between U.S. and Cuban cooperative sectors can bolster the movement in both nations.
Sol 2 Economics President Eric Leenson, NCBA CLUSA COO for International Development Amy Coughenour and NRECA Vice President of External Affairs Martin Lowery spoke on a panel called “The Case for Cuban Cooperatives and U.S. Engagement.” Answering questions on legislative and regulatory issues relating to U.S. – Cuban engagement were NCBA CLUSA Vice President for Advocacy Alan Knapp; John Weinfurter, vice president of Government Relations for Witt O’Brien’s; and Patrick La Pine, president and CEO of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates.
