Apply by June 18

Through the award, Capital Impact Partners and National Co-op Bank aim to support cooperatives nationwide and build wealth creation opportunities for diverse communities. Food, worker and housing co-ops will receive priority, but all sectors are invited to apply. Winning organizations will receive a one-year grant of up to $50,000 to advance cooperative development in diverse communities that experience systemic disinvestment.

The award intends to support early-stage projects and provide catalytic capital to attract other funders. It is important that projects are led or informed by the community and culturally relevant. Funding is awarded for specific projects in diverse communities and not for general operating funds for the organization.

About the Co-op Innovation Award

Cooperatives are an integral part of the fabric of our economy and have real power to support diverse communities to be strong, vibrant places of opportunity. Capital Impact Partners established the Co-op Innovation Award in 2015 to support the growing momentum around cooperatives and their ability to create economic opportunities for diverse communities nationwide. Since then, the 26 grantees have leveraged their combined $855,000 in awards to secure more than $13 million in additional funding from foundations, investors and government.
