Jack Barnett, a co-founder and president of the northeastern Pennsylvania-based Clean Energy Co-op, will appear on Everything Co-op on Thursday, January 16. A weekly exploration of the impact and potential of the cooperative business model, Everything Co-op aims to generate interest in and support for the cooperative movement.
Hosted by Vernon Oakes and conversational in format, the show is streamed live at worldcnews.com/listen-live every Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. EDT. Everything Co-op also airs live in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area on WOL 1450 AMâRadio Oneâs premiere talk radio station.
Vernon and Jack will discuss how the cooperative has helped communities to transition to clean renewable energy sources.
The Clean Energy Co-op started in 2014 as a spin-off of the local nonprofit Sustainable Energy Education & Development Support (SEEDS), with a mission to develop clean energy resources to benefit its 80+ members and the surrounding rural community. To date, the Clean Energy Co-op has financed three commercial-scale solar system projectsâwith a fourth project anticipated this springâusing cooperative capital, along with grant funding.
A board member of SEEDS, Jack has been a solar advocate for decades. He is past chair of a state chapter of the American Solar Energy Society.
