Cooperatives practice their values of equality, solidarity, social responsibility and caring for others not just for members, but for humanity—beyond borders and across generations. This makes co-ops the ideal tool to be used as part of global, regional and national efforts to mitigate climate change and protect our planet for present and future generations. During this session, we’ll learn from cooperatives that understand the need for bold, collective action that puts people and planet before profits. This panel discussion on climate resilience is moderated by Vernon Oakes, host of Everything Co-op and featuring Julia Baumgartner, Cooperative Development Program Manager for Equal Exchange; Tarun Bhargava, Deputy General Manager of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative; Eduardo Avila, Executive Director of Revolusolar; and Zoely Ramanase, Director of USAID‘s Sustainable Vanilla for People and Nature (Mafatoky) Activity.
