In an article published by Wired, Clive Thompson argues that worker-owned apps like Up & Go could save the gig economy from itself. The largely immigrant women-owned, eco-friendly platform cooperative can be used by New York City residents right now to book cleaning services.

“If we want better gig labor, the hard part isn’t the code. It’s the social stuff—getting workers together to form a co-op and setting up rules for selling their labor and resolving disagreements. An app can help things along, but it’s humans who really change the world.”
