Jessica Gordon-Nembhard

Author of Collective Courage: A History of African American Cooperative Economic Thought and Practice and a 2016 inductee into the U.S. Cooperative Hall of Fame, Jessica Gordon-Nembhard, Ph.D., is Professor of Community Justice and Social Economic Development in the Department of Africana Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York.

Jessica is also a member of NCBA CLUSA’s Council of Cooperative Economists; and the International Cooperative Alliance Research Committee; as well as a member of the board of directors of Green Worker Cooperatives, Grassroots Economic Organizing Newsletter, and Southern Reparations Loan Funds; and past director of the Association of Cooperative Educators.

She is the proud mother of Susan and Stephen, and the grandmother of Stephon, Hugo, and Ismaél Nembhard.
