This week, Vernon will sit down with staff from the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund to discuss the impact of the federal shutdown on family farmers in rural and undeserved communities, and the resources the Federation offers to help them recover.
In one recent example, farmers organized through the Federation’s Alabama State Association and the Black Belt Farmers Cooperative harvested, washed and boxed collard greens to make sure families received fresh, nutritious produce during this critical time.
