Home care worker cooperative members and developers from across the country will gather virtually from February 22-26, 2021 for the 5th Annual National Home Care Cooperative Conference. A Pre-Conference focused on the core skills of cooperative finance and governance will be offered on February 22. The conference will run from noon to 2:30 pm EST each day.
Registration is free for all home care workers and administrators from cooperatives and organizing groups. A donation of $25 is suggested for technical assistance providers and lenders. Donations will be used to further the work of the National Home Care Cooperative Initiative. In 2020, CDF provided $52,000 in COVID-19 relief grants to home care cooperatives to purchase personal protective equipment, cover lost wages, and pay utilities.
The program will focus on the skills needed to run and govern a successful cooperative and home care business. The February 22 pre-conference on cooperative governance and basic finance is designed for new board members, start-up cooperatives and cooperators needing a refresher. The conference, which runs from February 23 to 26, will feature speakers from within and outside the cooperative sector and include time for group discussions.
The conference is an opportunity to remind member-owners that they are part of a strong and growing network of cooperatives that focuses on empowerment and well-being of caregivers and clients. In addition to outstanding cooperative and industry content, the conference continues the tradition of providing a forum for home care cooperators to connect with one another. Attending cooperatives are encouraged to submit a 3 to 5-minute video about their business.
More information about the conference and content from past conferences are posted on the National Home Care Initiative website. Contact Kirstie Boyette at kboyette@ncba.coop for additional information.
