Based in Fairfax and Arlington, Virginia, Twins Ace Hardware was featured on WUSA9’s Great Day Washington this morning as part of NCBA CLUSA’s efforts to showcase its exhibitors ahead of this weekend’s Co-op Festival.
During the segment, Twins Ace Hardware co-founders and twin brothers Craig and Jeff Smith demonstrated five tools every homeowner needs (a hammer, tape measure, pliers, drill and screwdriver, if you’re wondering) and gave them away to a lucky listener. The duo also talked about how Ace Hardware stores are locally owned purchasing cooperatives.
The segment was a preview of Ace Hardware’s live demonstrations at this weekend’s Co-op Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The festival will highlight the powerful impact co-ops like Ace Hardware have by empowering communities and creating a more inclusive economy.
You can be part of this historic event! Join Ace Hardware, Ocean Spray, Cabot Creamery Cooperative, Organic Valley and other cooperative brands September 30 – October 1. Find all the details at coopfestival.coop.
Founded in 1924 by a small group of Chicago hardware stores owners, Ace Hardware changed the retail landscape by allowing individual stores to purchase merchandise in bulk to save money and buy at the lowest possible price. This partnership enabled even the smallest stores to compete effectively at retail despite big box stores in their market.
