Don’t miss your chance to apply for the annual Co-op Innovation Award sponsored by National Cooperative Bank and Capital Impact Partners. This grant initiative funds organizations that use the cooperative model to foster economic opportunities and address issues facing their communities. Organizations are chosen every year to receive up to a $50,000, one-time grant that recognizes innovative strategies to increase the number of food, housing and worker co-ops serving their communities.

Applications for grants must be submitted by June 12.

Apply by June 12

The grant funding should be used to amplify innovative models that can be replicated locally, regionally or nationally. Priority will be given to co-ops where the majority of members of the community served are living with low incomes. The award is intended to support early-stage projects and provide catalytic capital that will attract other funders. Funding will be awarded for specific projects and not for general operating funds for the organization.

About the Co-op Innovation Award

Cooperatives are an integral part of the fabric of our economy and have real power to support diverse communities to be strong, vibrant places of opportunity. Capital Impact Partners established the Co-op Innovation Award in 2015 to support the growing momentum around cooperatives and their ability to create economic opportunities for diverse communities nationwide. The program has now surpassed $1 million. In total, a combined $1.025 million in grants have been awarded to 30 innovative organizations across the country. These awardees have subsequently leveraged their awards to secure more than $13 million in additional funding from foundations, investors and government agencies.
