If you weren’t able to join our webinar last month with the Cooperative Development Foundation (CDF)’s Affordable Housing Initiative, you can still catch up with the webinar recording and new report.
We explored how stronger data infrastructure can support the growth and impact of shared equity housing models like housing cooperatives and community land trusts.
Research shows that these long‑standing models can strengthen housing stability, build resident and community wealth, and generate a range of social and economic benefits. However, with a stronger and more coordinated data infrastructure, communities could gain deeper insight into where and how these models advance racial equity, prevent displacement and support broader economic development goals.
During the webinar, we explored what data infrastructure is needed to document the impact of shared equity housing and help practitioners leverage data as they work to expand permanently affordable housing.
We also introduced new research from the Urban Institute that overviews the state of data currently collected by shared equity programs, based on interviews with stakeholders spanning community land trusts, municipal inclusionary zoning programs, limited equity cooperatives, technical assistance providers, and lenders.
