The virtual pop-up will launch a new report called, “How Can Data Cooperatives Help Build a Fair Data Economy? – Laying the Groundwork for a Scalable Alternative to the Centralized Digital Economy.” In collaboration with the Decentralization Research Center, the report is informed by extensive research, 16 interviews with leading experts including NCBA CLUSA president and CEO Doug O’Brien, and insights from a workshop with more than 38 cooperative experts and practitioners.

This interactive session will explore how data cooperatives can offer a fairer, more democratic model for data governance, drawing lessons from legacy co-ops, emerging global use cases, and practical pathways to scale. Participants will hear from leading voices in the field and have the opportunity to contribute to the growing movement shaping the future of the digital economy.

O’Brien will lead a discussion called “What Can We Learn From Legacy Co-ops?” that will explore the current impact cooperatives have on the economy and society at large.
