NCBA is excited to host a DMV Co-op Community Volunteer Day at DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) on Thursday, March 26! We’ll help DCCK prep meals for our neighbors and put our Cooperative Principle 7, “concern for community,” into action.

DC Central Kitchen is an iconic nonprofit and social enterprise that combats hunger and poverty through job training and job creation. The organization provides hands-on culinary job training for individuals facing high barriers to employment while creating living wage jobs and bringing nutritious, dignified food where it is most needed. DCCK’s social ventures include serving scratch-cooked farm-to-school meals in DC schools, delivering fresh, affordable produce to corner stores in neighborhoods without supermarkets, and operating fast-casual cafes throughout the District of Columbia.

Where: Klein Center, 2121 First ST SW, Washington, DC 20024

When: Thursday, March 26 from 9 a.m.-noon or 2-4 p.m. Our goal is to fill 60 volunteer slots on March 26—30 volunteers per meal prep shift.

To sign up, please follow the steps below

Step 1: Visit DCCK’s Volunteer Portal at dcck.appianportals.com/dcck-volunteer-registration

Visit the Volunteer Portal

Step 2: Select “Create an Account for Group Registration.”

Step 3: Follow the prompts and fill out your contact information. When you choose “Type of Volunteer Experience,” be sure to select “Corporation/Organization,” then search for “National Cooperative Business Association/NCBA” in the search bar. If you skip this step, you won’t be able to sign up for the shifts reserved for our group.

Step 4: Continue to follow the prompts and fill out the additional requested information.

Step 5: Digitally sign the Release and Waiver of Liability. Note: the Covid-19 vaccination attestation form is optional.

Step 6: After clicking “Done” to submit your digital signature, click “Create Profile.” DC Central Kitchen will send you an email with login information. You’ll be prompted to update your password. Once you’re logged in, look for the “Sign Up” tab at the top of the page. Navigate to the calendar, choose the “Month” view, scroll to March 26 and choose either the 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. Food Prep slot. After you click “Register” and confirm your selection, you are registered and all set.

We look forward to volunteering with you!
