Dr. Ann Hoyt is Board Chair of the Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin.

This week, Vernon interviews Dr. Ann Hoyt, Board Chair of the Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin and Emerita Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Vernon and Dr. Hoyt will discuss one of Wisconsin’s consumer-owned cooperative HMOs, the Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin, its unique primary care staff model, and new cooperative initiatives.

Dr. Ann Hoyt is an Emerita Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was Chair of the Consumer Science Department in the School of Human Ecology and a consumer cooperative specialist focusing on cooperative governance. She is the Board Chair of the Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin and serves on the Willy Street Grocery Cooperative in Madison. After retiring, she has served on many cooperative boards of directors, including the University of Wisconsin Credit Union, the National Cooperative Business Association, and the National Cooperative Bank. Dr. Hoyt was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame in 2015.

Following Ann’s induction into the United States Cooperative Hall of Fame in 2015, she became an Emerita Director of the UW Credit Union in 2016. She has also worked with the International Cooperative Alliance on their project to reconsider and update the Statement of Cooperative Identity.
