Tune into WOL 1450 AM, 95.9 FM or the WOL Livestream on Thursday, October 23 at 10:30 a.m. EDT for Everything Co-op, hosted by Vernon Oakes.

This week, Vernon welcomes Roger L. Green, Senior Fellow at CUNY School of Law’s Community Economic Development Clinic (CEDC) and a lifelong advocate for social and economic justice. Together, Vernon and Roger will explore the cooperative dimensions of the Coalition for a Democratic & Just New York Black 2025 Agenda.

Roger L. Green is a trailblazing public servant, educator and social justice advocate whose work has transformed lives across Brooklyn and beyond. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the CEDC, where he continues to champion economic democracy and equity.

For more than 25 years, Roger represented New York’s 57th District in the State Assembly, where he chaired several key committees and the New York State Black, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus, authoring more than 160 laws supporting children, families, higher education and human rights.

A graduate of Southern Illinois University, Roger also served as a distinguished lecturer and founding director of the DuBois-Bunche Center on Public Policy at Medgar Evers College, where he co-founded the Center for Law and Social Justice (CLSJ)—a pioneering institution in the fight against racial injustice.

Continuing his lifelong commitment to community empowerment, Roger co-founded Citizen Share Brooklyn, SEED and the Brooklyn Community Collaborative; and co-chaired the Coalition to Transform Interfaith Medical Center, helping secure $83 million annually to preserve healthcare access for Brooklyn residents.
