Green Taxi Cooperative Takes Corporate “Sharing Economy” to the Next Level

A new worker-owned taxi cooperative set to launch with 800 drivers in Denver is helping to build equity and sustainability in a city where advocates of the cooperative business model contend that the real “shared economy”—popularized by app-based services like Uber and Airbnb—should include shared ownership. Cooperative attorney Jason Wiener, a founding member of NCBA CLUSA’s Co-op Professionals Network, guided Green Taxi Cooperative through its lengthy licensing application process and is excited that approval is being granted to co-ops from regulatory bodies that have typically supported traditional businesses.
