Dr. Martin Lowery, Executive Vice President Emeritus of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and Cooperative Hall of Fame member, will appear on Everything Co-op on Thursday, September 12. A weekly exploration of the impact and potential of the cooperative business model, Everything Co-op aims to generate interest in and support for the cooperative movement.

This week, Vernon and Martin will discuss the role of cooperatives in addressing community challenges today.

For more than three decades, Martin has been a forceful advocate for the cooperative business model. He is Executive Vice President, Emeritus, of America’s Electric Cooperatives, and the immediate past chair of National Cooperative Bank’s Board of Directors. Martin was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame in May 2014, the highest honor that the U.S. cooperative community bestows on individuals who have made heroic contributions to the cooperative movement. He is currently the elected U.S. representative to the board of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). Martin received a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Duke University.
