This week, Vernon interviews John Holdsclaw IV, Executive Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at National Cooperative Bank. Vernon and John will discuss the state of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in our country and in our cooperative movement.

During NCBA CLUSA’s recent Cooperative IMPACT Conference, Holdsclaw moderated a session called “Cooperatives Can Advance DEI: Lessons, Issues and Ways Forward.” He will discuss strategies panelist shared during this session, along with the concrete steps needed to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in our cooperative movement.

As Executive Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Holdsclaw works to establish NCB as a thought leader in community development and cooperative expansion that leads to business development and solutions. He also promotes and advances social investment opportunities within the philanthropic arena and in product development, furthering NCB’s commitment to mission banking.

Earlier this year Holdsclaw was named Chair of the Board of Directors of the Coalition of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI Coalition). Last year he was named the recipient of the 2019 Stan Dreyer Spirit of Cooperation Award, an honor bestowed to those who live and work with the spirit of the cooperative principles.
