Nonprofit Quarterly (NPQ) is kicking off its year-long focus on building a more democratic economy with a series of articles published in the Summer 2018 issue of Nonprofit Quarterly magazine.
The series—which will include monthly webinars beginning in the fall—aims to boost understanding and foster conversation around how nonprofits and movements can most effectively respond to America’s rising inequality. The growing role of employee ownership is part of that conversation.
The “unique moment” NPQ writes about in its introductory installment speaks to the contradictions in the U.S. economy and mirrors the “cooperative moment” NCBA CLUSA is working to make the most of. For the first time in the 21st century, co-ops are poised to truly build a more inclusive economy.
