Tune into WOL 1450 AM, 95.9 FM, and the WOL Livestream on November 14th at 10:30 am EST for Everything Co-op, hosted by Vernon Oakes. This week’s episode will feature an interview with Mike Houston, General Manager of the Takoma Park Silver Spring Food Co-op (TPSS). Vernon and Mike will explore the TPSS’s reopening after an extensive remodeling project.

Mike Houston boasts 14 years of experience in the natural food industry, overseeing independently owned community stores. He is an alumnus of Leadership Montgomery’s Emerging Leaders program and currently chairs the Montgomery County Food Council. Additionally, Mike is a member of the National Cooperative Grocer’s Advocacy Advisory Committee, the Member Advisory Committee, and the Old Takoma Business Association Board. He earned his B.S. from the University of Missouri’s College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources.

The Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op open its doors in 1981 and has been in its present location in the Takoma Junction since 1998. As a community owned grocery store, the co-op offers healthy, natural, organic, and locally sourced food to its over 11,000 member-owners, and anyone who wants to make a purchase. All are welcome.
