The National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA) will begin operating as “U.S. Co-ops” in mid-September 2026, adopting a clearer, more direct name that immediately communicates who we are and who we represent.
The rename opens a new chapter of the association’s 110-year history. As U.S. Co-ops, we will renew our enduring mission to develop, advance and protect cooperative enterprise while sharpening the association’s role as the primary voice for cooperative businesses in the United States.
“This name is a clearer expression of who we are and who we represent,” said Doug O’Brien, President and CEO. “The NCBA CLUSA name carries an important legacy that will continue to drive our work. As we look ahead, we believe this change will strengthen our visibility, clarity and impact in the broader public conversation.”
A name that communicates who we are
The rename supports a longstanding priority for the association and its members: helping more people understand the cooperative business model and the role cooperatives play in the economy. U.S. Co-ops helps us bring new audiences into that conversation while continuing to serve and advocate for our members.
Importantly, the new name better positions the association to expand its engagement with policymakers, funders and partners in aligned sectors. U.S. Co-ops immediately connects the association with the businesses and communities we represent, making it easier for audiences both within and beyond the cooperative community to understand who we are and why our work matters.

What to expect in the coming weeks
Beginning in mid-September, you’ll start seeing U.S. Co-ops appear across our communications and digital channels. During this transition, both the NCBA CLUSA and U.S. Co-ops names may appear as we update our systems and materials.
You may receive emails (including Co-op Weekly) from two domains: ncba.coop and our new domain, us.coop. From mid-September through October, messages may arrive from either domain. Both are official association domains that can be trusted during this transition. For example, both [email protected] and [email protected] are legitimate email addresses from our team.
In the coming weeks, us.coop will become our primary website. Visitors to ncbaclusa.coop will automatically be redirected to our new domain. That means existing bookmarks and links will continue to get you where you need to go.
To help ensure you continue receiving Co-op Weekly, event invitations, member updates and other communications, we recommend adding our new us.coop email addresses to your contacts or safe senders list. Here’s how:
Gmail
- Open an email from our new domain
- Click the sender’s name at the top left of the email
- Select Add to contacts
Outlook
- Open Settings (the gear icon) and select Mail > Junk email
- Under Safe senders and domains, select Add safe sender
- Type us.coop and save your changes
Throughout the month, we’ll share more about the transition to U.S. Co-ops—including a first look at our new logo. In the meantime, we look forward to advancing 110 years of cooperative leadership under a name that immediately reflects who we are.
